Pissing (instead of boxing) the day away

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope yours was wonderfully full of all the people that you love! Well, after all of the hustle and bustle of getting ready for Christmas... today I enjoyed pissing the day away. Note: I can't claim this term as my own, but cannot remember if it came for Mike or Emily. Nonetheless, I was in my tattered robe until about 3pm... Finishing The Time Traveler's Wife (a sweet, smart, lovable read), eating whole-wheat-home-made-egg-mcmuffins, chatting with my Mom, cleaning the bathroom with my new Method cucumber scented bathroom wipes, watching Zander play the deplorable Vice City, and then eating a bit more. My action packed day was rewarded with a steamy shower, complete with home-made lavender soap that Rebecca gave me for Christmas. For much of my adult life, I'd feel a huge sense of guilt whenever I left projects unfinished, or dirty dishes in the sink. I spent a lot of time mad at myself for being such a horrible slob and not much time getting things done. Now (maybe after Japan???), I don't usually feel the huge urgency/shame/guilt/fear that my mother will see my messy house, that I used to, and things just get done without all of the drama. I guess it is all about learning to piss the day away.

Ahh... Junk

With Christmas right around the corner, I've found myself at the mall a lot lately... And every sweater, brooch, and witty little book is beginning to look the same. Ponchos are now officially giving me the good old gag reflex. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE getting people gifts, especially ones that I just know they're gonna love. But with every trip I make to the mall for a fleece hoodie, I feel I owe myself the thrill of a thrift shop. Saver's has always been a favorite, the Goodwill is a great stand-by, but one of my newest favorites is Arc Value Village. The roller skate, above, is a few sizes too small... but who cares when it goes so perfectly in my bathroom??? A few weeks ago I made it out to the Junk Market in Long Lake. (This is where the skate-vase idea came from). If you can make it out to one of their 3 times a year sales, it is really quite the idea-fest, but too expensive for my pocketbook. This is one of their ideas that I'd like to try. But seriously, where am I going to get a metal crib?

Any good thrift stores to add the Minneapolis/St. Paul list? Anyone been to a local auction recently?

I have a blog!!!

"Yes it's true. You won't find no frogs and snails and puppy dog tails in THIS blog. No sir..I MEAN Ma'am. This blog is for girls ONLY.

So no booooooysss.....allooowwweeedd. Giggle

I like bunnies."

My smart-alecky husband and his smart-alecky friend thought they were so funny and wrote the above entry, posing as me. It made me laugh so hard I had to include it. If you've ever seen Homestar Runner's Teen Girl Squad, you'll know the voices they use to impersonate me.
