maniac

Whenever Zander's out of town, I become a bit of a maniac. I don't sleep. I stay up all night working on a little bit of this and a little bit of that. Last night, after the crafter's conspiracy meeting (which was absolutely wonderful) , I came home and made a messenger bag out of some turquise velvety fabric that I picked up at Unique Thrift last winter. Yes, I was up until 3. I didn't have insomnia and I'm what you'd call a "good sleeper." I like sleep, and I like 8 hours. So This morning after 4 hours, I got to thinking about our kitchen and the ugly, fake, wood floor that floats about 2 inches above the rest of the world. So I went and got a puller-upper tool from the basement and began what has been on my mind for almost a year now. Bye-bye ugly pergo. Hello vintage linolium underneath. For now. Until I decide you also must die.

I hear you about the things in your house that you don't like and they sort of eat at you everyday. I have faux brick in my kitchen that is coming down. Not sure when, but it's gonna happen.
I mean Faux brick.. in the KITCHEN!
What the hell were they thinking?

Yikes!! You go.

Did you get the asbestos checked yet? Let me know if you do, I have a chip that needs to go in too. I want to get that carpet up that we just put down in the basement and tile the whole works. Anna is against it, but the basement carpet thing just isn't working out for us.

I just stumbled across yout blog...

You're brave! I can't wait to bust up the ceramic tile in my kitchen, which I'm sure is covering wood floors. I'm way too chicken to do it, so I'll have to be content with my dingy cracked tile floors for now.

Way to go, Julie! It will be fun to see what's underneath.

Shad, I'm not necessarily against the tile basement...but I guess we can talk about this when I get home.

You mania sounds familiar. When Steve would go out of town and we lived in our last house I got the hallway sanded and painted, all of the white trim on the ground floor painted and loads of other stuff done. Can't remember anything like that happening at this house....hmmm...
I excited to see new flooring!

I redid all of the kitchen cabinets when Shad was out of town last August.

The first part of Zander's trip was filled with me just a workin' around the house. However, today was filled with art fair goodness and... the new Harry Potter.
